About Noriko
All the way from Osaka in Japan, to London's leafy North Finchley, I creates unique hand-crafted stoneware pieces.
Taking inspiration from one of the 20th century's most celebrated potters, fellow countryman Shoji Hamada,I works with the flow of the glaze and makes gravity combine with the shapes of my ceramics.
Spontaneity is vital in capturing the fluid designs that occur in the glazing process, making each single piece individual, and much like a one-off.
My expanding range of ceramics range from small delicate sake cups, to sets of plates and bowls, all the way to larger vases and pots – all coloured and textured by the layered glazing effect that echoes the natural environment of land and sea in my native Japan.

My Work
Hand thrown in batches made to order, I make nature inspired collections of stoneware tableware such as sake cups, large vases and plant pots.
I started developing own style of ceramics which is inspired by nature in Japan and Canada, using a layering glaze style and gravity to create one of a kind ceramics. Trees, ocean scenery, mountains, waterfalls, and animals, are all inspirations to me. Every day she explores finding new shapes, sizes, weight and colours to express within my ceramics.
When it comes to ceramics, I am deeply influenced and inspired by the Japanese master potter Mr. Shoji Hamada. His spontaneous designs and clean shapes are what I strive to achieve in my own work.
